Susquehanna Association for the Blind and Vision Impaired
The Susquehanna Association for the Blind and Vision Impaired – SABVI – is located on North Queen Street in Downtown Lancaster. The Association has been in its current location for over twenty-five years. The project comprised extensive renovation of their 40,000 SF existing facility and a 25,000 SF addition. This work was necessitated by the agency’s unprecedented growth over the last 15 years. Renovations within the existing building included a new warehouse and loading dock as well as greatly expanded manufacturing facilities . With the modifications to the building over one hundred persons with vision impairment are be employed by the Association. The three-story addition provides new space for early childhood education for children with vision impairment, expanded offices for client services, an expanded eye clinic, a library, a new lobby and a large multi-purpose room.
